The Chicest Straw Hats to Wear This Summer
One of my absolute favourite ways to accessorise my outfits over Summer is with some kind of straw hat. Not only are they ultra chic, they shade the face - helping to protect from harmful rays - and make walking, reading or just lying in the sun far more enjoyable. For me, when it comes to finding a straw hat I go by the rule ‘the bigger the better’ but there are so many options available from the classic Fedora to something lavishly large.
Ever wanted to look très chic whilst reading on the beach or having lunch alfresco? This is an ode to the chicest hats that you can stop right now and wear this Summer, from the traditional Fedora and raffia hats to the wide brimmed floppy that takes over half your face but looks fabulous. From £30 options on the high street to luxury £200 options from Net A Porter, here are my favourites to add into your Summer wardrobe.
STYLES of the straw hat
Oversized & Floppy: This is favourite of the straw hat styles for their super relaxed look, the amount of shade over the face they offer and their ability to make all Summer look put together. Due to their relaxed style, they can squish into suitcases, your hand luggage or if you want to keep the shape why not stuff them with bikinis in your suitcase. The perfect beach companion.
The Fedora: For a more classic and robust straw hat, opt for the Fedora. Offering a stiff brim that is usually far narrower then your floppy hat, a Fedora is sturdy and the perfect way for when a large hat isn’t practical and you still look chic and be slightly shaded.
Raffia with a Frayed Hem: This particular style has a little more of an ‘undone’ look about it and one I think that just shouts Summer in the city. Left plain or wrapped with a beautiful silk scarf or ribbon, the raffia hat is resilient meaning it will last for all of your Summer holidays for a few years and it’s also a sustainably harvested material.
A Contemporary Twist: If a simple and plain straw hat isn’t quite enough for you then rest assure, there are plenty more options available that you can explore. Animal print silk scarves attached, ribbon neck ties allowing you to chicly drop the hat over your back and seashells paired with sparkly jewel embellishment, all of which allow you to stroll the streets or lounge in the sun with your face shaded whilst looking glamorous.
I hope this post provides you with some straw hat inspiration for Summer!
