Chic 90’s Hair Accessories

90’s hair accessories are well and truly back in fashion and they are the answer to creating any chic hairstyle. Easy up-do’s are a flawless summer hair option that look effortless all whilst keeping your hair away from your face and shoulders to prevent any unnecessary overheating. Gone are the days of having to secure your hair with a dull kirby grip as the hair accessory market as blossomed over the past year and is now full of creative designs and vibrant colours that compliment an outfit, like a piece of jewellery would.

Tortware JOAN Porcelain Pearl

2019 was the year of the hair clip and 2020 is the year of the hair claw, making creating those slicked back hair styles you’ve seen on your favourite icons over the years, easier than ever. My go to brand for hair accessories is Tortware (interview with brand founder here) for their innovative designs and multiple styles and colour ways meaning there is a clip for all hair types, hair colours and hair textures; smooth, frizzy, short, thick, afro, weave, blonde or brunette. As worn and loved by fashion icons including Lucy Williams, Laura Jackson, Estèe Lalonde and Camille Charriere, Tort is the most exciting brand on the market today that is pioneering chic hair and creating accessible, affordable and luxury clips, claws and combs for all.

Starting with the hair clip, these are a great way to pin back a fringe, create some oomph and clip at the back of the head or jazz up a pony tail / bun and clip beneath or above. I love to mix and match my clips, either doubling up next to each other or having one on either side of my head.

When it comes to tying my hair up, I very rarely reach for a scrunchie nowadays and rely on my claws to do the job. Not only do they hold my hair in place far more securely, they add a pop of colour and compliment any outfit. My at home hair looks the past few months have never looked so good… Durable and travel friendly, there is much more you can do with a hair claw than tying up your hair, I like to clip mine to a bag strap or at the bottom of my t-shirts to make sure it’s on me at all times.
