How To Create Beach Hair

Textured beach waves really are the epitome of summer hair and with more and more sea salt and texture product on the market, it's easier than ever to create perfect beached hair without having a tropical trip. Whether it's for a holiday, party or day to day this effortless undone look is perfect for a carefree hairstyle and these are my top tips and products on how to achieve it.

Step 1: SHAMPOO

The first step in my beach wave hair routine is to use a shampoo that's going to cleanse, add body and a soft textured finish and my go to for this is the Bumble & Bumble Surf Foam Wash Shampoo*. The gorgeous aqua bottle perfectly encapsulates the ocean and the unique blend of volume-enhancing minerals such as sea fennel extract and sodium chloride to give that real beach look help give hair a tousled and messy look and feel.

STEP 2: Prep with A moussE

When hair has been roughly towel dried I spread through some kind of texturising mousse or wet product through the hair as this is going to be what gives hair that extra volume, wave, grip and 'un-done' surf girl look. If I want a much more salty, windswept long lasting look then I'll apply a pump of the Moroccan Oil Beach Wave Mousse* which gives a real stepped off the beach look to the hair that holds a lot of texture but for a more relaxed beach look the Bumble & Bumble Surf Foam Spray* is my favourite and most reached for. The part mousse, part sea salt formula gives this unique blow dry spray a fine mist consistency that gives much more relaxed looking bouncy beach hair. The sea salt, coconut and tropical blend ingredients give this product that Summer scent that ties in perfectly with the beach inspired packaging. Both products are best used on damp hair and evenly distributed from the roots to ends for the most natural looking sea waves.

STEP 3: ADD THE SALT

For the ultimate beach look then using a pure sea salt product whether it's in spray or cream form is key. I love the ease of the John Frieda Sea Salt Spray* as you can simply spritz it all over damp hair, blow-dry or leave hair to dry au natural and you're good to go whereas the H&M Beachy Keen Salt Water Cream is a more mattifying and defining cream that's going to add grip and volume from the roots to ends. Rough drying hair with the salt cream is going to help achieve a rougher and more textured feel and look (without being crunchy).

STEP 4: ADD TEXTURE AND VOLUME

Using a dry texture spray is the best way to finish off your beach hair as it'll not only help hold the waves in place but add in some last minute grip and texture. My absolute favourite is the Moroccan Oil Dry Texture Spray* as it's argan infused formula ensures hair doesn't feel crunchy or dehydrated making it the perfect finishing spray to up-do's, bobs, long or short hair.
