Top 5 Red Lipsticks
When it comes to nude lipsticks, I like to stick with my trusty MAC Velvet Teddy or Topshop Naturist which does make me look a little boring, but they work for me. However, when it comes to red lipsticks or any dark lipstick, I have built up rather a substantial collection, whether it's a dark, bright or raspberry, I have a red with every undertone- I am kinda obsessed. Just to let you know, I don't wear red lipstick as a daily lip colour, I'm not that brave... I save these little babies for evenings out or special occasions. What I'm trying to say is that picking out my top 5, was a pretty tricky task!
First up, we have my all time favourite high street brand; Kiko. All of their makeup is so affordable & such high quality and their lipsticks are definitely up their in my favourite Kiko product list. This is actually a very new addition to my makeup bag, I picked it up in London about a week ago after I had been searching for the perfect 'true red' lipstick for months. The Kiko Smart Lipstick in True Red (908) is the ultimate red every girl needs. The rich, creamy, pigmented formula glides onto the lips, leaving a silky, intense burst of colour and a tonne of moisture. The brightness of the red ensures a radiant finish which lasts for hours and perfectly shapes your lips. A must have red lip and it's only £2.50.
Next up, we have an absolute classic red lipstick and an old favourite of mine. It's the Dolce and Gabbana Classic Cream Lipstick in Iconic, their famous red lip. When I'm going for a super glamorous makeup look with a bold red lip then I will always reach for my D&G. The luxurious, cream, moisturising formula delivers a striking, bold red lip with an immense lasting power and a beautiful finish. The is the Marilyn Monroe of red lipsticks.
As were covering every under tone of the red lips, I thought I would mention my No7 Stay Perfect Lipstick in Pillar Box* which I would say is more on the orange/bright bright red side of things. I love how this one doesn't have a super matte finish and is more on the shine-ish side of things, keeping it comfortable and glam. This one definitely offers something a bit different to your standard true red lipstick.
A raspberry red I am loving right now is my new Clarins Rouge Eclat in Passion Red*. The lipsticks themselves are incredible nourishing and have a very much shine finish, with slight radiance. For evenenings when I want to wear a red but want to stray away from the full on matte, bright lip, this is perfect. The sheeny cream colour glides onto the lip and adds luminosity with a comfortable, long lasting finish.
Lastly on the list is one you will all be waiting for and probably guessed would be on here... it's my all time favourite, the beautiful MAC Dubonnet. This was an obsession of mine throughout A/W and is just my go to red lip. If I'm ever unsure on what lip to wear, I know I can always rely on this. The beautiful rich, dark red creates a flawless, smooth, matte lip which is incredibly long lasting. Like many MAC lipsticks, this is very matte but not at all drying, my lips are kept hydrated and looking plump all evening.
