The Spring Makeup Menu

It's official, I have declared SPRING on my blog, kicking things off with products for fresh, pink makeup. Even though it is still pretty cold, rainy and windy outside and we are still having to go out in coats and ramp up the heating, I am desperate to say goodbye to A/W makeup and say hello to the light bases, barely there eyes and pretty pink lips. As always, beauty brands are tempting us with pastels, glossy lips, bright nails and all sorts of beautiful new products, but for today, I have rummaged through my storage and picked out my favourite picks I'll be mixing between this Spring. With a mixture of face, cheeks, eyes and lips, lets talk Spring...

To really let my skin breathe and have a break from the medium/full coverage foundations, I try to make my base as light as possible by using a BB Cream or Tinted Moisturiser which will still give me a bit of coverage but let my natural radiance and skin show through. To add some colour and hydration, my Vichy Idealia BB Cream is perfect. I simply smooth this onto my skin with my fingers for the most natural results and it just evens out my skin tone, illuminates my skin with a light finish. When my skin is feeling more dull than usual then my Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser is exactly what I need. This is actually my preferred and go to base for Spring/Summer, there wasn't a day last year I didn't use this for my base and let me tell you why... Laura Mercier has got this one just right, the ideal amount of coverage, the most beautiful intense glow, a touch of colour to even everything out, an SPF 20 and a finish of incredibly moisturised, hydrated looking skin.

For spring cheeks I either go for peach or pink, pretty simple, I know. The powder blush I actually picked out for this makeup menu isn't the pastel pale pink most people would go for, it's a deep mauve but looks beautiful alone on the skin with just the base and for this, I can thank Urban Decay for my Naked Flushed Palette in Strip. To keep that fresh, dewy look then liquid or cream blushers are your safe bet. Benefit's Tints are such handy multi purpose products, you can get the perfect matchy matchy cheek and lip with these bad boys. Posietint (Swatch 5) is a pretty poppy pink that looks amazing on the apples of my cheeks and lips, paired with a pale eye shadow and as for a peachy blush, ChaChatint (Swatch 4) is my absolute favourite. I love the bright mango like shade which makes my skin look so sun kissed and has a real tropical holiday feel to it. For really bronze goddess like makeup, pair this with lots of bronzer and a cream gold eye shadow. You will look like you've just got out from the sun. Being a highlighter addict, I have to finish of the base with one and my go to now is MAC Cream Colour Base in Hush, a gorgeous champagne peach.

Moving onto the eyes, it's time to forget about the gold shimmer, heavy eye liner, layers of mascara and time to keep the eyes simple with a subtle sheen of colour, a tiny amount of mascara and the only pencil 'Ill be using this season is one to brighten them up. I am carrying my eye shadow stick obsession from winter through to spring as they are the easiest things to apply and take seconds. My favourite ever shadow, the Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks (Swatch 3) and here I have the shade Pink Opal, a beautiful pale pearly pink which adds a light wash of colour and perks everything up. For a budget and neutral option I have the Gosh Cream Shadow Stick in Beige (Swatch 6) which is a very natural colour with a metallic effect. To really open up my eyes, I take my Pixi Crayon Combo in Wide Awake which has a 'matte nude to brighten and a glowing cream to lighten'.

Now spring lips, I LOVE. Pastel pinks, neutrals, glosses and shines, I love them all. For creamy smooth lips, my Laura Mercier Lipstick in Antique Pink (Swatch 1) is a personal favourite. These are luxurious and lightweight making them perfect for an everyday comfortable lip. Up next is one of my favourite drugstore lip products, the Revlon Colour Burst Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake (Swatch 2) which are hydrating, buttery and have a subtle shine finish.
