The Chanel Eye Shadow Stick

Eyeshadow sticks really have become the next big thing. I think every brand has brought one out and nearly every beauty blogger/addict has got just the one, or has built up a collection of them all. Me? I've got a collection... I started off with Kiko then slowly branched out and picked up some from Gosh, Clinique, Laura Mercier and Chanel. I've been eyeing up the By Terry Black Ombre Star's for ages now but I couldn't justify spending £30 on an eye shadow stick so when I met ViviannaDoesmakeup and she said Chanel had just released one as part of their limited edition S/S15 collection, I ran to the Chanel counter and handed over my money. Here's what came home with me...

Say hello to the Stylo Eyeshadow Fresh Effect Eyeshadow in 147 Caroube, one of the 5 colours Chanel have released as part of their S/S collection - limited addition I believe, so you better get cha skates on. Like most other shadow sticks, this is all packed up into a twist up style pencil with a pigmented, soft, long lasting formula that makes eyes sparkle and heads turn. When Chanel say these have a 'fresh effect', what they really mean is that they have a cooling effect when applied to the lid, sounds very strange but it's actually really nice and gives you an instant refresher. I apply this straight out of the tube, no eye primer, I just stripe it on in back and forth motions before I go in with a blending brush to soften the edges and make sure it is all blended in evenly. If I want a soft eye then I leave it there but for a stronger pop of colour then I layer, blend, layer, blend and so on. If you're lucky enough to have tried By Terry Shadow Stick in Misty Rock, then this is basically a taupey-er shade with slight mauve undertones and has the most beautiful metallic finish which illuminates your eyes.

The creamy stick is super intense and pigmented but at the same time is very light weight and doesn't stick together in a big mess. The easy to use applicator glides the shade on perfectly and gives you about 10 seconds to work with before setting for a long wear of 8 hours. Chanel have created a must have summer product that you all need in your holiday makeup bag.

Have you tried the Chanel eye shadow sticks or are you a By Terry girl?
